Aditya Dhar is a senior at The Harker School in San Jose. In addition to serving as the Co-Curator of the TEDxHarkerSchool, Aditya is very passionate about debate, serving as one of the captains of the Harker debate team, winning awards at several tournaments nationwide, and competing as part of the 2016-2017 USA National Debate Team. Aditya is an avid performer and researcher, and is active in his school’s National Honor Society chapter. Aditya is also interested in politics, and recently volunteered at California Attorney General Kamala Harris’ campaign for US Senate. Aditya’s other interests include hiking, tennis, and playing the piano.
Peter Wu is currently a senior at The Harker School. Aside from serving as the Co-Curator of TEDxHarkerSchool, Peter is highly interested in the STEM fields, and has participated in numerous high-level mathematics and science competitions. He is also passionate about philosophy and sports, having co-founded The Harker Philosophy Club and actively participating in his school’s water polo team. Peter’s other interests include philanthropy, research, and travelling.
Emily is a junior at the Harker School in San Jose and the Director of the TEDx operations team. Apart from TEDx, she competes in varsity public forum debate, serves as a junior editor of the Harker Eclectic Literary Magazine, and is a vice president of the Bay Area youth chapter of the international Society for Neuroscience. Emily volunteers with the Academy of Music and Art for Special Education and the Pacific Autism Center for Education and harbors a passion for neuroscience, specifically an interest in research in developmental and psychiatric disorders. In her free time, Emily enjoys reading, writing, and playing and composing for piano.
Kaitlin Hsu is currently a junior at The Harker School and is the Director of the TEDxHarkerSchool Marketing team. Apart from TEDx, Kaitlin serves as editor-in-chief of the school’s longform newsmagazine, Wingspan, and is the Creative Director of the Harker Podcast Network. Kaitlin is also the secretary of National Honor Society and Japanese National Honor Society. In her ever-shortening free time, she volunteers as a grief counselor at Kara, codes generative art, and writes poetry and short fiction.
Anooshree Sengupta is currently a junior at The Harker School and is the Director of the TEDx Public Relations team. Outside of TEDx, she competes in robotics and is the lead programmer on her internationally award-winning VRC team. She is also a passionate researcher, and has been recognized as a Broadcom semifinalist and has received multiple awards on both the regional and state levels. Outside her STEM activities, she also enjoys playing volleyball, and has played on school and club teams for the past three years. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, and traveling.
Taylor is a sophomore at The Harker School in San Jose and a member of the Operations team. Besides TEDx, some of her other interests include Future Problem Solvers and speech. She is the assistant research coordinator of the Future Problem Solvers club, a member of National Honor Society, and part of the Honor Council at the upper school. During the spring, she can be found playing on the school softball team, and in the summer, she participates in a competitive, travelling team. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, reading, and playing with her pet chinchilla.
Going into his sophomore year at The Harker School in San Jose, Keval is a vital member of the Operations Team for TEDx Harker School. Keval has also enjoyed and took part in the Synopsis and Google Science Fair. In his 3 years of competing at this fair, his projects corroborate his interest in the medical as well as engineering field. Besides TEDx, tennis and surfing are two activities which Keval takes pleasure in. Both help him relieve stress from school and relax. However, if he does not have enough time to go to the courts or the water, he likes to play his guitar. For him, listening to each one of the six strings resonate helps him regain his strength.
Neelesh is a junior at the Harker Upper School in San Jose and an Operations Associate for the TEDx Harker School Officer Team. He enjoys competing in math and science related competitions and is vice president of the Harker Research Club. Neelesh is active in science research, and has submitted projects to competitions such as Synopsys and Siemens. His passion is in the field of physics, which led him to join Harker’s United States Association for Young Physicists Tournament (USAYPT) problem solving team. He is also a part of the Harker DECA Chapter, and qualifies regularly at the regional, state, and national levels. Neelesh also teaches at the California Tamil Academy, volunteering to spread the culture of his native language to younger children. When not pursuing his interests in these activities, he reads and spends time with his younger brother.
A sophomore at The Harker School in San Jose, Matthew is a member of the marketing team for TEDx Harker. Matthew presented Prysm at Harker’s Science Fair, and he acted in Harker’s Senior Directed Showcase as well as in the musical, Bye Bye Birdie. He is an avid water polo player as he plays year-round and his interests include practicing piano, reading, eating, and hanging out with friends.
A sophomore at The Harker School in San Jose, Shania is a Marketing Associate for the TEDx officer team. Aside from TEDx, she serves as the Class of 2019 treasurer and the Vice President of Academic Decathlon. Shania is also actively involved in DECA as the Director of Communications for her school’s chapter as well as a member of WiSTEM, Medical Club, and National Honor Society. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball, finding new places to eat, reading, and listening to music.
Nicole is a sophomore at the Harker School in San Jose and a member of the Public Relations team for TEDx Harker School. Aside from TEDx, she is the features editor for Harker’s online journalism publication, Harker Aquila. Nicole’s interests include economics, business, and writing; hence, she is a member of clubs such as Model UN, DECA, and Japanese National Honor Society. Additionally, she enjoys playing piano through actively participating in competitions as well as performing at senior centers. In her free time, Nicole likes to pursue her interests in photography.
Rahul Shukla is a senior at The Harker School in San Jose. In addition to serving as the Public Relations Associate of the TEDxHarker Team, Rahul is passionate about debate, serving as one of the captains of the Harker debate team. He writes for the French National Honor Society’s magazine, actively volunteers at his local YMCA, and participates in E3, a youth philanthropic group in Los Altos. Rahul’s other interests include economics, travelling, playing the trumpet, and basketball.
Derek is a junior at the Harker School in San Jose and a member of the TEDx Public Relations team. A passionate student of the sciences, Derek is the STEM Editor for both the school’s print and online newspapers, Winged Post and Aquila, and is a staff member for the school’s scientific journal, Harker Horizon. In his free time, as a testament to his lightning reflexes and penchant for incorrect answers, Derek serves as an officer and team member for the school’s quiz bowl team, and a team member for the school’s science bowl team. In addition to TEDx, he participates in science research, and cultivates an amateur’s interest in linguistics and game theory.
Mr. Acheatel has helped over 150 startups launch and/or raise raise capital in a wide range of industries with a focus on web and mobile tech and consumer products.
He worked as a micro-finance intern based out of Ecuador while studying for a B.A. in Global Economics & Latin American Studies from UC Santa Cruz. Prior to joining The Harked School, he worked as the President of The Startup Garage and the Consultant at Baja Expeditions. He received an international MBA from Tel Aviv University, Israel’s top business school, and participated in an exchange program at Brandeis University. His MBA education allowed him to expand his knowledge of business and strategy, both in and out of the classroom. Additionally, the international nature of his degree allowed him to work with professionals representing over 30 nations while immersing himself in Israel’s culture of entrepreneurship and innovation. Mr. Acheatel also enjoys surfing, camping, and playing with my dog, Tia.
Mr. Glass serves as the Director of Business and Entrepreneurial Programs at The Harker School, heading up the school’s Business and Entrepreneurship Department. For the first time in Harker’s history, he develops curriculum for and teaches Business and Entrepreneurship courses. Additionally, Mr. Glass coordinates, acts as advisor for, and oversees our award-winning Harker DECA Chapter, professional Career Panels Series, Harker Podcast Series, Mentor Program, the annual Harker TEDx forum, and many other exciting student programs yet still to come. He is excited for each new day to strengthen the BE programs and help develop students into becoming the next generation of emerging leaders, business professionals, and successful entrepreneurs.
